Piston seals are quite similar to rod seals, but they are attached to a piston that seals a bore or cylinder housing. These seals are specifically designed to prevent pressurized fluid from leaking down in between the piston and the bore, while the piston itself is pushed down the cylinder bore. Like rod seals, piston seals can come in single-acting (sealing from one side) or double-acting (sealing from both sides) varieties. These seals need to be used with the correct combination of bearings, housing and piston tolerances and surface finishes for the best results in terms of leakage prevention.
Custom piston seal sizes, dimensions, and materials
As with all of our seals, the piston seals from Allied Metrics come in a variety of different materials. However, the Teflon/Teflon-filled seals come highly recommended. This variety has less friction and handles higher temperatures than most other materials.
However, your preferences may steer you toward a different type of material. Fortunately, we offer a wide range of different materials for our seals, and can create them in different sizes, dimensions and quantities. The price of your order will depend on the sizes and materials, but no matter what your order, we pledge to have your seals to you as quickly as possible. All standard orders have a turnaround time of less than a week, while custom orders have a turnaround time of four to six weeks.
